The image illustrates the poem perfectly. I like the interaction between the dog and the horse and rider. Nice touch with the muddy feet and paws too :-)

Artist's Description

SADDLE TALE by Dieter Carlton a poem for which he wrote as follows ...

'Though life is hard, I must admit
So much to do, I just can't quit

But, once each week, I shut it down
And with my dog, will ride to town

Now there across the muddy street
An inn, some rest and food to eat

Then drink and song, a barroom brawl
Got drunk and robbed ... and that's not all ...

Somehow I got me now a wife
Who promised me a better life

So back we rode on happy trail
In this, another SADDLE TALE.
