Description
THE FOUNTAINS OF EDEN by Dieter Carlton
A poem for which the artist wrote as follows ...
When first they dwelled upon this land
Their deeds were written in the sand
They camped along the river banks
And shared all things among their ranks
Explorers too they were indeed
With swift canoes, so rare a breed
They did not seek to conquer all
For all their needs were very small
To nature and each other true
A peaceful culture through and through
But soon they questioned why they were
And suddenly their thoughts would blur
Somehow they found the evil way
And paradise they lost that day
And all because they could not rest
Upon the virtues they knew best
Someday, perhaps we'll live again
