Description
THE SINKING EARTH by Dieter Carlton
...a poem for which the artist wrote as follows:
Along the great Mojave plain
Where scarcely does it ever rain
A deep and rugged gorge appears
The wear and tear of countless years
Across the plains for miles it spanned
A massive etching in the sand
And on my horse I rode below
My laded donkey close in tow
I ventured there in search of gold
Abundant there so I was told
Descending there for what it's worth
Down deep into THE SINKING EARTH
