SHADOWS IN THE CLOUD, by Dieter Carlton

I always stop to view the sky
When waves of clouds would wander by

They cast themselves in random form
From tiny wisp to thunderstorm

Their shadows help to keep us cool
When high about the sky they rule

But sometimes one will stop to rest
Upon the earth to be our guest

And when it does, a silence falls
That turns to whispers all our calls

It hovers low to mask our view
While granting us its gift of dew

But soon the sun will lift its shroud
By casting SHADOWS IN THE CLOUD
